SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four people died in two separate traffic collisions near Erbil and Kirkuk on Sunday, police and reporter said.
Esta Media Network reporter in Kirkuk said two cars crashed on the maid road between Erbil and Kirkuk, killing three and wounding two others.
The accident took place between a Kia Sorento and Hyundai Elantra near the village of Biban, the reporter said, and that the later burned in crash.
Separately, a student died and four others were injured after another vehicle crashed on the Khabat-Erbil main road due to speeding, traffic police said.
The directorate of traffic police in the Kurdistan Region said earlier this month that it had recorded more than 3,500 traffic collisions in the past 10 months.
More than 470 people had died and over 5,380 others had been wounded in car crashes in the Region, according to official statistics.
