Turkish drone bombs village in west of Sulaimani

News

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Turkish drone bombed a village in the Kurdistan Region’s district of Chamchamal on Friday, a health official told Esta Media Network.

Spokesman of Chamchamal health directorate Sharif Rahim said villagers in Saidan village had called for assistance following the bombardment.

“We have no information about casualties but our teams and ambulances were sent to the village,” he added.

The strike came four days after another drone carried out an airstrike near the village in Qara Hanjir sub-district, located between Chamchamal and Kirkuk.

A man and a woman were injured in the airstrike, a local official said.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km (20 miles) from the border.
