SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Islamic State (ISIS) attacked the Iraqi military in north of Baghdad on Sunday, killing a solider, Iraqi media reported.
The militants attacked a military post of the Iraqi army in an area on the border between Diyala and Saladin provinces, national Iraqi news agency cited a security source as saying.
The attack killed a soldier and wounded three others including an officer, the source added.
Meanwhile, the militants attacked the Iraqi forces in south of Tuz Khurmatu on Sunday night, killing a member of the security forces, Iraqi media reported.
The main road between Kirkuk and Baghdad was temporary closed due to clashes between the security forces and the militants.
Iraq declared victory over Islamic State in December 2017 but the militants have regrouped in the Hamrin mountain range which extends into the northern provinces – an area described by officials as a “triangle of death”.
