Turkish warplanes bomb villages in Amedi district, no casualties

File – Smoke rises after Turkish warplanes bomb Amedi district

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes conducted strikes against targets in the Kurdistan Region’s Amedi district on Saturday, Esta’s reporter said.

Turkish fighter jets “intensely” bombed the villages of Zewka and Gali Sherana in Baregare in Amedi district, northeast of Duhok, according to Esta Media Network reporter.

“The bombardment caused damages to the area’s forest and agricultural fields of people,” he added, noting that there were no casualties.

Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.

On Friday, Turkish media reported that a senior PKK member, who was the head of Kirkuk region, was “neutralized” during a joint operation by Turkey’s intelligence and army in Qandil region.

Turkey uses “neutralize” term for targets who have been killed or wounded.
