SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the death of his mother.
“My thoughts are with Prime Minister Johnson and his family during this difficult time,” Barzani said in a tweet.
Charlotte Johnson Wahl, a professional painter and the mother of the British prime minister, died at the age of 79 on Monday, according to Reuters.
Johnson had described his mother as the “superior authority” in the family during the Conservative Party’s annual conference in 2019.
The prime minister, who was referred to in the notice by his first name, Alexander, is the eldest of her four children with Stanley Johnson, whom she met in 1962.
Johnson Wahl was the daughter of lawyer James Fawcett, who was president of the European Commission for Human Rights in the 1970s. She studied English at Oxford University.
