Qubad Talabani to U.S. Consul General: disputes shall not lead country toward more instability

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Qubad Talabani, the Head of the secretariat office of President Mam Jalal on Thursday in Erbil met U.S. Consul General Irvin Hicks Jr on Thursday.

A statement from Talabani’s office said the meeting discussed the overall political situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, laying emphasis on improving the bilateral ties between the U.S. and the Region.

Discussions focused on the dangers before the Iraqi political process, both sides agreed to find solutions for the problems through dialogue and understanding.

“The disputes shall not lead the country toward more instability,” Talabani said, according to the statement.

Discussions also focused on the significance of improving the bilateral ties, in this regard, Talabani asked for the strengthening of the commercial ties.

“The ties must be improved to a certain extent that encourages the American companies to invest more in the Kurdistan Region. Both sides’ commercial chambers must establish relations,” Talabani said.

During the discussions the U.S. Consul General, Irvin Hicks reiterated the full support of his country for the Kurdistan Region.

Hicks commanded Talabani’s efforts to combat family violence in the Region. He demanded Talabani to persist and plays his positive influential role.
