SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Authorities in Sulaimani on Thursday announced the detention of a group of suspected car thieves in Sulaimani and Baghdad.
In a statement, the directorate of Asayish in Sulaimani said the group had stolen cars from people who had bought them at a car dealership in Baghdad.
“The group monitored the buyers after selling the car, and after several days they steal the cars using copied keys which they have kept for themselves,” Asayish added.
The security forces in Sulaimani had found a car which was stolen in Baghdad previously, Asayish stated. A suspected car thief was also detained in Sulaimani.
“The stolen car was returned to its owner,” it continued.
“All members of group were detained in Baghdad after providing information to the security institutions there,” it said.
