Security forces arrest suspect shot guard in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Security forces in Sulaimani detained a suspect that shot a security guard in Sulaimani city last week, authorities said on Thursday.

A suspect shot a 31-year-old man at Darwaza apartment complex in Sulaimani on Wednesday night. The security guard succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement, the directorate of Asayish (security) said its units had arrested the suspect, who is the son of an official from Kirkuk.

“The suspect’s family had helped in detaining him,” it added.

Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani ordered the security forces to find and detain the perpetrator, Asayish said.

On Thursday, deputy minister of interior Chato Salih said the security forces were searching for the suspect, who was a “well-known” person.
