SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Iraqi security forces seized 76 rockets in Kirkuk province, the security media cell said on Saturday.

Units from the joint operations command in Kirkuk seized the rockets and four explosive devices as well as a box of light weapons on the outskirts of Wadi Abu Shahma in al-Rashad district, the Iraqi military said in a tweet.

An Islamic State (ISIS) hideout was also found and destroyed in the area, it added.

In 2017 Baghdad announced victory over the militant group, and attacks in Iraqi cities have since become much rarer, although troops continue to fight ISIS sleeper cells in mountainous and desert areas.

The militants still mount deadly operations, mostly at night and in remote areas.

Iraq’s security media cell further said the security forces detained seven wanted persons and two other suspects in accordance with Article 4 of the Iraqi penal code.
