Kurdistan Region reports record high daily COVID-19 deaths

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region on Friday reported 28 coronavirus-related deaths, the most confirmed in a single day since the pandemic began.

In a statement, the Region’s health ministry said it had recorded six deaths in Erbil, seven in Sulaimani, 12 in Duhok and three more in Raparin.

The Region also reported 2,755 new cases in the previous 24 hours, the ministry added.

Up to 662 infections were in Erbil, 649 in Sulaimani, 1,237 in Duhok, 46 in Halabja, 79 in Garmian and 82 in Raparin, it stated.

The Region’s total number of infections rose to 250,026, including 4,900 deaths, the ministry’s figures showed.
