SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish fighter jets carried out airstrikes in several villages in the foothills of Qandil mountains on Thursday, Esta’s reporter said.
Esta Media Network reporter said the Turkish warplanes bombed the villages of Prdashal, Lewzha, Endiza, Sekanyan and Beresh in the foothills of Qandil mountains.
They also conducted airstrikes in the valleys of Ballay and Shahidan near the mountain, the reporter added.
Casualties remained unclear.
Turkey has taken its decades-old conflict with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) deep into the Kurdistan Region, establishing military bases and deploying armed military drones against the fighters in their mountain strongholds.
Most of the operations have focused on territory up to 30 km (20 miles) from the border.
Turkey’s defense ministry said three Turkish soldiers were killed and another was injured in Khwakurk region in Duhok province this week.
