Kurdistan posts 2,178 new COVID-19 cases; highest daily rise since pandemic began

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s health ministry on Sunday reported 2,178 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Region, its highest daily jump since the pandemic began.

In a statement, the ministry said it had registered 770 new cases in Erbil, 683 in Sulaimani, 588 in Duhok, 16 in Halabja, 98 in Garmian and 23 in Raparin.

As many as 14 patients had died from the virus in the past 24 hours, while 1,057 had recovered, it added.

Those figures swelled the Region’s tallies to 214,006 infections and 4,689 deaths, according to the ministry’s figures.
