SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday spoke by phone with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis
“Pleased to have spoken today on the phone with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece. We discussed Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with Greece, areas of cooperation and regional developments,” Barzani said in a tweet.
The phone call came after the Greek prime minister postponed a visit to Baghdad and Erbil due to security concerns.
Mitsotakis was scheduled to visit Iraq and the Kurdistan Region on July 12, according to Greek City Times.
Iraq and the Kurdistan Region saw an increase in rocket and drone attacks carried out by what Iraqi officials say Iranian-backed militia groups against U.S. and Coalition personnel.
