SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Seven Kurdish workers were injured by a group of Turks in a Turkish town for speaking in Kurdish, mezopotamya news agency reported on Tuesday.

The news agency reported that the laborers were subjected to “racist attacks” in Derecine village in Turkey’s Sultandagi district.

Five of the workers were transferred to hospital due to their injuries, the news agency said.

“They wanted to take my son to the forest and kill him,” Azize Tan, mother of one of the workers, told mezopotamya.

Tan further said nearly 50 men attacked them with “sticks and stones”, according to the news agency.

“We are treated inhumanly … they kicked us out of the tents. They said ‘bring your vehicle, collect your belongings in half an hour and go’,” she said.

It was the third such incident that has occurred in Turkey this year.

Earlier this month, a Kurdish man and woman from Iranian Kurdistan were attacked and beaten by a restaurant owner in Turkey.

The two showed bruises on their bodies in a video circulated on social media.

In May, a Kurdish family from the Kurdistan Region’s capital, Erbil, was also attacked by a group of Turks in Bozyazi district in Mersin.

Two members of the family including a father and a son were wounded.

In 2019, a group of tourists from the Kurdistan Region carrying a Kurdistan flag scarf was attacked by locals in the city of Trabzon as they were trying to take pictures.
