SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Four Iraqi soldiers were killed in another attack by Islamic State (ISIS) militants in northwest of Kirkuk, Iraqi media reported on Saturday.

ISIS militants attacked a military post in the village of Idris Arab in Dibis district, security sources told Iraqi media.

The militant group has increased attacks against civilians and security forces in the province.

A civilian was killed and two others were wounded in an ambush by the ISIS militants in Prde sub-district, north of Kirkuk.

An intelligence officer was killed after ISIS militants attacked a unit of federal police in Riyadh district in south of Kirkuk on Wednesday.

The federal government announced victory over ISIS by the end of 2017 after Iraqi and Kurdish forces backed by U.S.-led Coalition regained control of areas once captured by the militant group.

Despite its defeat, ISIS still poses a threat to the security and stability of the country as there are still sleeper cells in Iraq.
