SULAIMANI (ESTA) — One civilian was killed in an Islamic State (ISIS) ambush in Prde sub-district north of Kirkuk late on Thursday, Esta’s reporter said.

Esta Media Network reporter in Kirkuk said a group of ISIS militants ambushed three civilians in the village of Qarabag in Prde sub-district.

The three including two brothers and a cousin headed to their poultry farm when they came under ISIS attack, the reporter added.

One civilian was killed and two others were wounded in the attack, he noted.

ISIS remnants continue to attack civilians and security forces in Kirkuk, Nineveh, Saladin, Diyala and Baghdad provinces.

An intelligence officer was killed after ISIS militants attacked a unit of federal police in Riyadh district in south of Kirkuk on Wednesday.

The federal government announced victory over ISIS by the end of 2017 after Iraqi and Kurdish forces backed by U.S.-led Coalition regained control of areas once captured by the militant group.

Despite its defeat, ISIS still poses a threat to the security and stability of the country as there are still sleeper cells in Iraq.
