Deputy PM appoints new head of information agency in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on Sunday appointed Azhi Amin as the new head of information agency in Sulaimani city. 

Talabani chaired a meeting with security officials in Sulaimani city, including the minister of Peshmerga, head of Asayish agency, deputy minister of interior, director of Asayish, director of police and commander of protection brigade.

The deputy premier introduced the new head of the Zanyari agency, an intelligence unit in Sulaimani, to the security officials attending the meeting, according to a statement released by his office.

Talabani said during the meeting that it was “their duty to continue to protect tranquility, and the coordination should be further strengthened,” the statement read.

“The security institutions should not in any way interfere in political affairs, but should ensure citizens of security and stability,” Talabani was cited as saying.
