SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdistan Region’s minister of health Saman Barzinji warned on Thursday the Kurdistan Region has moved to coronavirus orange level, as cases are rising slightly.

Barzinji told reporters that there was an increase in the ministry’s weekly report on coronavirus cases in the Kurdistan Region.

“Once again, we have moved from the yellow level to orange level,” the minister said in a press conference.

“The increase is aligned with the situation in other countries and Iraq. It tells us that the coronavirus is still presence, and it requires self-protection to contain it,” he added.

The minister warned that the coronavirus has not ended yet and that the Region “is not in a situation where we can remove masks”.

The Kurdistan Region reported 723 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, including six deaths. It logged 652 cases on Tuesday.

As of Wednesday, the Region had recorded a total of 185,716 cases, with 4,477 cases, according to the health ministry.
