SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Kurdish security forces have detained three representatives of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) in Erbil on Thursday, said the AANES representation in the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement, the AANES representation said forces “affiliated to the Kurdistan Democratic Party [KDP]” had detained its member Jihad Hiso and PYD representatives Mustafa Khaleel and Mustafa Aziz in Erbil on Thursday morning.

“They were heading to Erbil international airport to receive guests and no reason for the arrests has been given so far,” the AANES representation stated, according to Hawar news agency (ANHA).

It condemned “these irresponsible acts”, calling on the KDP to immediately release the three representatives, ANHA reported.

Kurdish authorities in Erbil have yet to confirm reports of the three’s detention.
