Kurdish journalist produces documentary on war between rival gangs in Sweden

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Kurdish journalist has produced a documentary on a bloody war between two rival gangs in Sweden’s Gothenburg municipality, which has been ongoing for over 10 years.

Karwan Faraj who grew up in nearby Angered borough said the documentary “Gängkrigens tid”, or the Time of the Gang Wars, features fierce clashes between two rival gangs in the district of Biskopsgården in Gothenburg.

“The hardest phase of my work was when I had to convince members of the two gangs to speak to me because they are rival gangs and have killed 20 people from each other in the past 10 years,” Faraj told Radio Sweden.

A bloody gang war has raged in Biskopsgården district in Gothenburg over the past 10 years. At least 20 people have been killed in the conflict, including two children.

The documentary consisting of two seasons is aired on TV4 Play.
