Kurdistan Region records biggest daily jump in coronavirus cases

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded the biggest daily jump in new coronavirus cases on Thursday, topping more than 970 infections.

In a statement, the ministry of health said it had recorded 974 new cases in the past 24 hours in the Kurdistan Region.

The health ministry added that it had registered 322 new cases in Erbil, 183 in Sulaimani, 31 in Garmian, 93 in Raparin, 320 in Duhok and 25 in Halabja.

The ministry further said it had recorded 28 new deaths in the previous 24 hours. Ten deaths were in Duhok, six in Sulaimani, nine in Duhok and three in Halabja.

As many as 376 more patients had recovered from COVID-19, the ministry stated.

The Region’s total number of infections reached 59,251, of which 2,088 died and 36,275 recovered, according to figures released by the health ministry.
