A nine-month-old baby dies of coronavirus in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A nine-month-old infant died from coronavirus in Sulaimani city on Saturday, a hospital director said.

Dr. Pishdar Abdulla, director of Dr. Jamal’s pediatric teaching hospital in Sulaimani, said the infant had been diagnosed with “hypersensitivity pneumonitis” and was hospitalized for 16 days.

“The infant might have recovered and died from complications of coronavirus,” Dr. Abdulla told Esta Media Network.

“Seventy-Eighty percent of the infant’s lungs were affected by the coronavirus complications,” he said.

According to doctors at the hospital, there were other cases of infants dying from COVID-19 complications.

The Kurdistan Region has recorded a total of 138,222 coronavirus cases as of Saturday, including 3,869 deaths, the health ministry’s figures showed.
