Arab League chief arrives in Kurdistan Region

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit arrived in the Kurdistan Region on Saturday for talks with senior Kurdish officials.

Aboul Gheit was welcomed by Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed at Erbil international airport upon his arrival to the Region.

He will hold talks with senior Kurdish officials on Sunday.

Aboul Gheit visited Baghdad on Saturday morning and met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, President Barham Salih and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.

He discussed with the Iraqi officials the latest developments in Iraq and the region as well as strengthening Iraq’s role in the Arab League.

The Iraqi foreign minister said in a joint press conference with Aboul Gheit that the Arab League chief would also visit the Kurdistan Region later on Saturday.
