SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The ministry of health warned on Sunday the Kurdistan Region is facing a “dangerous phase” as coronavirus cases keep rising across the Region.

“We are in a dangerous phase and numbers are rising gradually,” health ministry’s spokesman Aso Hawezi told Esta Media Network.

The ministry has recorded the biggest single-day rise in coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, he said, without announcing the number.

“The rate of infections and deaths is very high,” he noted.

The Region’s ministry is expected to release figures of the previous 24 hours in the coming hours.

As of Saturday, the Kurdistan Region had recorded 124,132 COVID-19 cases, with more than 3,700 deaths, according to the health ministry’s figures.
