SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Foreign ministers of the U.S.-led Coalition forces said on Tuesday attacks against the coalition and Iraqi forces in Iraq are “unacceptable”.
The foreign ministers of the Global Coalition to defeat Islamic State (ISIS) met virtually on Tuesday to reaffirm their shared determination to continue the fight against the militant group in Iraq and Syria, according to a joint communique by U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken and the foreign ministers.
“Attacks against Coalition forces and Iraqi partners, such as those that occurred in Erbil, Baghdad, and Al Asad, are unacceptable and compromise our collective efforts at the expense of the people of Iraq,” the ministers said.
Armed groups have targeted bases hosting the U.S.-led Coalition troops in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, as well as convoys supplying the Coalition forces in the past months.
The United States blames Iran-backed militias for regular attacks on U.S. facilities and convoys in Iraq.
They reiterated their “unwavering commitment” to continue close cooperation with the Iraqi government, according to the joint communique.
