SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Iraqi military said on Tuesday that a convoy carrying U.S.-led Coalition’s equipment for the Iraqi forces was targeted in Dhi Qar province.
Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a statement that an improvised explosive device (IED) hit the convoy which carried Land Cruiser pickups donated by the Coalition forces to the Iraqi forces.
“It was a gift from the international coalition to build up the capabilities of Iraqi security forces,” the military said.
The explosion damaged one of the vehicles, but caused no casualties, it added.
In Babil, another convoy supplying the Coalition forces was hit by an IED, according to the Iraqi military.
The attack is the latest in a series of attacks on convoys supplying the Coalition forces, training the Iraqi security forces to fight Islamic State (ISIS) militants in the country.
An IED hit another convoy transporting logistical support for the Coalition forces in Hilla in Babil governorate, wounding one of the drivers who was an Iraqi citizen, according to the Iraqi military.
The United States blames Iran-backed militias for regular attacks on U.S. facilities and convoys in Iraq.
