SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An explosion hit a convoy for a contractor transporting logistical support for the U.S.-led Coalition forces in central Iraq, wounding a driver, according to the Iraqi military.

Iraqi Security Media cell said the convoy was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED) on the highway in Hilla in Babil governorate.

The blast burned one of the trucks and wounded its driver who is an Iraqi citizen, the Iraqi military added.

The attack is the latest in a series of attacks on convoys supplying the Coalition forces, training the Iraqi security forces to fight Islamic State (ISIS) militants in the country.

The United States blames Iran-backed militias for regular attacks on U.S. facilities and convoys in Iraq.
