SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region’s share has not caused a problem for the draft federal budget law for 2021, said deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament.

The Iraqi parliament’s committee of finance met ministers of finance, oil, planning, electricity, trade, construction and housing, municipalities, and labor and social affairs as well as several other advisers to discuss the federal budget bill.

The committee of finance made it clear to the government’s officials that “there should be no new loans in this year’s budget and it is not allowed,” Bashir said.

“The Region’s share is not discussed during the meeting, and it shows that the Region’s share has no problem,” he added.

“Any change in the Kurdistan Region’s share of the federal budget is not acceptable.”

On Friday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives said it would convene on Sunday to vote on the federal budget bill.

A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) led by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani is expected to visit Baghdad on Saturday for more talks on Kurdistan Region’s share of the federal budget.
