SULAIMANI (ESTA) — An Arab front in Kirkuk accused the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) security forces of detaining thousands of Arabs of the province.

Deputy head of United Arab front Nadim al-Shammari said the security forces of the Kurdistan Region had imprisoned “5,000 Arabs” of Kirkuk province.

“There are 5,000 Arabs of Kirkuk, who are detained and imprisoned by the security forces of the Kurdistan Region,” Shammari told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday (October 7).

Shammari called on the KRG to release the detainees, warning that their continued detention would “harm the ethnic and social structure” of Kirkuk governorate.

There was no immediate comment from authorities in the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad.
