COVID-19 patient with 80% lung infection recovers in Sulaimani

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A patient infected with coronavirus nearly three months ago was discharged at a hospital in Sulaimani city, a health official said on Tuesday.  

Dr. Herish Haidar, supervisor of the coronavirus team in Sulaimani, said the patient’s lungs were affected by 80% when he was admitted to Shahid ِDr Hemin Hospital on December 11.

He suffered a “severe pneumonia”, according to the patient’s medical file.

“He received necessary treatment and left hospital today in good health condition and reunited with his family,” said Dr. Haidar.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region recorded 199 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with one death and 119 recoveries.

As many as 109,350 people have been infected by the coronavirus in the Kurdistan Region, of which 3,522 died and 103,744 recovered, according to the Region’s health ministry.
