Kurdistan Islamic Group re-elects Ali Apir as leader in 4th congress

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The fourth congress of Kurdistan Islamic Group (KIG) kicked off in Sulaimani city on Thursday morning to elect its leader and other governing council officials in a two-day event.

The party re-elected its leader Ali Apir on the first day of the event.

The fourth congress started at 10:00 a.m. (EBL time) at the Sulaimani International Fair and it is scheduled to last two days.

More than 892 members of the party participate in the congress, in which the party’s future program and policy will be discussed.

The party is expected to elect members of its leadership council on the second day of the event.

The Kurdistan Islamic Group was established on May 31, 2001. It secured seven seats in the Kurdistan Parliament. Ali Bapir, who is the current leader of party, is expected to be elected for the fourth time.
