SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Co-president of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Bafel Talabani on Monday condemned a rocket attack on Erbil city, vowing to confront groups putting security of the Kurdistan Region at risk.

Several rockets were fired toward the Region’s capital, Erbil, late on Monday. The Interior ministry said a number of people were wounded in the attack.

The PUK co-leader expressed concern over the rocket attack, wishing speedy recovery for the wounded.

“We condemn any plot aiming to disrupt stability in the Kurdistan Region and we do our best to confront any groups or bands which puts the security of the Region in danger,” Talabani said in a statement.

“We will never allow the security and tranquility of people be disrupted,” he added.

“I am certain we can face the security challenges better with unity and unified will of the security forces, and provide a better and tranquil life for all.”
