SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Turkish warplanes on Tuesday bombed a village in Sulaimani province, a local official said.

Mayor of Pshdar district Bakr Bayz told Esta Media Network that the airstrike caused damages to several houses in Shene village in the district, north of Sulaimani.

“The strike was 500 meters away from houses of the villagers and caused material damages to the village,” the local official said.

“The strike could be in response to movement of PJAK members in the area,” he added, referring to the Kurdistan Free Life Party, waging an intermittent armed struggle against Iran.

Ankara intermittently carries out airstrikes and artillery shelling against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on the Kurdistan Region’s border areas with Turkey and Iran.
