SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Sulaimani is expected to welcome more than fifty thousand tourists amid the New Year’s Eve holidays, said an official on Thursday.

From December 20th until 25th twenty-five thousand tourists have entered Sulaimani, said the city’s tourism spokesman, Aram Shwani.

The spokesman expected thirty thousand more tourists to visit Sulaimani until New Year’s Eve Day with the vast majority of tourists from southern Iraqi provinces, according to his words.

“Every year, several tourism groups from Europe also pay a visit to Sulaimani during the holidays,” he added.

Local authorities in Sulaimani have launched the biggest New Year’s Eve festival across the city to celebrate the new year of 2023.

New Year’s Eve street festivities in Sulaimani include music, food, fireworks, and more. They are set to continue until January 1st of 2023, particularly taking place in the well-known Salim street of the city.
