SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A delegation from the Kurdistan Region met with Iraqi parliament’s committee of finance on Monday night to discuss the Region’s financial entitlements and share of federal budget for 2021.

The delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani who arrived in Baghdad on Monday met with members of Iraqi parliament’s committee of finance in an attempt to reach a deal with lawmakers on the federal budget, which is at the committee for discussions and changes.

Head of the finance committee Muthanna Samaraiy who chaired the meeting said all sides agreed to resolve the issues related to the Region’s share of the budget.

“We are all determined to combine the views and make a deal on ways of resolving the issues related to the Region’s share, and in return, the central government should make its promises,” he said in a statement.

The KRG delegation arrived in Baghdad on Sunday. The delegation included minister of finance and economy Awat Sheikh Janab, minister of planning Dara Rashid, minister of state Khalid Shwani and head of Kurdistan Region presidency’s diwan Omed Sabah.

The draft budget law commits the Kurdistan Region to export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget, which is set at 12.67%.

Talabani also said in December that the KRG would export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad once the federal budget was adopted by the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
