Kurdistan Region records second-highest single-day rise in COVID-19 infections

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Region recorded 725 additional COVID-19 cases on Friday, the second-highest single-day increase.

The Region’s ministry of health said it had registered 241 new cases in Erbil, 145 in Sulaimani, 314 in Duhok, 24 in Garmyan and one in Raparin in the last 24 hours.

In a statement, the ministry said five more patients had died from the virus in Erbil, Duhok and Raparin in the previous 24 hours. As many as 238 patients had recovered, it added.

So far, the Kurdistan Region has logged 118,137 coronavirus infections, with 3,627 deaths, according to the ministry of health.
