SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Senior Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials including Prime Minister Masrour Barzani will address the Kurdistan Parliament regarding reform and economic crisis.

The Kurdistan Parliament will hold its session at 10:00 a.m., which was requested by the premier last month.

In a communique on Saturday, the parliament said Barzani, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and Minister of Finance and Economy would attend the session.

The officials are expected to discuss steps to implement reform law on salaries, pensions, grants, allowances and benefits, the economic situation in the Region and salary distribution, talks with the federal government, the situation in the disputed areas and steps to confront the coronavirus.

The prime minister called for a parliament’s session in accordance with Article 66 of Kurdistan Parliament’s by-laws.

The premier’s call came two days after 23 lawmakers signed a memo to ask the parliament’s presidency to bring the prime minister, deputy prime minister and minister of finance and economy to appear before the legislature.

Lawmakers from the Kurdistan Islamic Union, Kurdistan Islamic Group, Change Movement (Gorran), New Generation and Azadi blocs as well as independent MPs signed the memo.
