SULAIMANI (ESTA) — A Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation will meet with members of Iraqi parliament’s committee of finance in Baghdad on Monday to discuss the Region’s share of the federal budget for 2021, according to a Kurdish official.

Head of KRG representative office in Baghdad Faris Issa said the meeting would focus on coordination between the delegation and committee of finance in the Iraqi parliament.

“If the Kurdistan Region’s share of the [federal] budget is passed by the committee of finance, there is a possibility that it would face no other issue because [the committee] represents the parliament,” Issa told reporters.

The delegation arrived in Baghdad on Sunday.

The KRG delegation includes minister of planning Dara Rashid, minister of state Khalid Shwani and head of Kurdistan Region presidency’s diwan Omed Sabah.

KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani who led a high-level delegation to Baghdad said in December that Erbil and Baghdad had reached an agreement over the 2021 federal budget bill, approved by the Iraqi Council of Ministers in the same month.

The draft budget law commits the Kurdistan Region to export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad in exchange for the Region’s share of the federal budget, which is set at 12.67%.

Talabani also said in December that the KRG would export 250,000 bpd through Baghdad once the federal budget was adopted by the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
