An archaeological site more than 4,000 years old has been discovered in Kirkuk

SULAIMANI – (ESTA) An archaeological team dating back more than 4,000 years has been discovered in Kirkuk.

The monument is being excavated by two teams. The first team uncovered the remains of construction work and a pottery kiln. In addition to finding about 100 pieces of various artifacts.

The second team found several graves containing various gifts and their work has so far led to the discovery of about 150 pieces of archaeological remains.

Suhail Tamimi, head of the Archaeological Board, visited the area today and called for all archaeological pieces to be registered and scientific criteria to be observed in the work.
