SULAIMANI – (ESTA) October 3 marks the seventh anniversary of the passing away of the former Iraqi President and Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Mam Jalal.
Iraqi leaders have recalled the role of President Mam Jalal in political and national issues.
Ammar Hakim, the leader of the Hikma Movement, said in a message on the anniversary of the death of President Mam Jalal, “We commemorate the national role of the late President Mam Jalal Talabani, the patriotic leader, due to political and social intelligence together without discrimination and opposition to paint a big picture of the struggle for a unified Iraq, to achieve the important goal of establishing a new Iraq.”.
“We extend our condolences to both Mr. Bafel and Mr. Qubad Talabani and their brothers in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdish people in general,” he said.
Also, Baha al-Araaji, former Iraqi leader and deputy prime minister, said, “On the seventh anniversary of your departure, may God forgive you, Mam Jalal Talabani.”.
He said, “You were a father before you became president; you were a patriotic Iraqi before you were a Kurd; you were an axis for reconciliation, not a supporter of conflict and division.”.
Earlier today, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani said in a message that on the anniversary of the death of President Jalal Talabani, “the memory of his important and honorable role in the struggle against oppression and dictatorship, we’ll open it.”.
He added that “Mam Jalal has a clear influence and fingerprint in strengthening the ranks and strengthening the spirit of unity among our people and consolidating and promoting the concept of national interest before party interests, which still inspires us in all areas of political work.”.
At the end of the message, Sudani stressed that “the principles and values that President Mam Jalal participated in developing have become the address for an independent and strong Iraq and have become a gateway to serve the sons of our people throughout the country.”.
Several activities and ceremonies were held in different cities today.
