SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The Spokeswoman of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announce that will approve the names of the candidates and determine the date of the election campaign next week.
“The Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) will decide next week to approve the names of candidates for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections,” spokeswoman Jumana Al-Ghalai said.
“The date of the election campaign will be determined next week,” she said.
Also, Ghalai said, “the commission assures voters that they can vote freely and their votes are secret and protected and no one knows who voted for, the voting card does not contain the name and identification of voters.”.
She stressed that “according to the Kurdistan Parliamentary Election Law, the Commission will take legal action against anyone who uses pressure and fear against voters.”
“The measures include depriving individuals and parties of their votes, in addition to imprisonment and imprisonment under articles of the election law,” the commission spokeswoman said.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced that the parliamentary elections will be held on October 20.
