SULAIMANI – (ESTA) For July, Iraqi lawmakers received salary cuts after a complaint to the Federal Court, which decided to reduce the salaries of senior officials, according to the decision, years of service, qualifications, marriage and children.
“The salaries of Iraqi parliamentarians have been reduced after senior officials in the government were asked to reduce their salaries,” Karwan Yarwais, a member of the Iraqi parliament from the PUK faction, told the official website of the PUK.
“On the other hand, there is an opinion that MPs are not senior and will only remain in that position for four years, so the decision does not need to apply to MPs.”.
“In the past, parliamentarians had a fixed salary of 8.2 million dinars, but according to this new decision, most of the parliamentarians’ salaries have been reduced, not only those with master’s degrees and those with doctorates has done.”.
Also, he said that, “the work and activities of parliamentarians should be measured, not certificates, but according to this decision, each parliamentarian has a fixed 4 million dinars and then receive other allowance.”.
