SULAIMANI – (ESTA) The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was founded 49 years ago on June 1, 1975 as a social democratic party. Since its establishment, the PUK has given thousands of martyrs for the Kurdish people in all four parts of Kurdistan.
The PUK was established as a national and struggle necessity in the midst of the oppression of the previous oppressive regimes. After 49 years, the PUK continues to defend and protect the rights of the Kurdish people in different ways.
President Mam Jalal, the first secretary and founder of The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, has been regarded as a symbol of the PUK and its members and the permanent symbol of their party.
“The PUK has played a great role for Iraq, the Middle East and the world, thanks to the efforts of its members and the blood of its martyrs,” the president Mam Jalal.
“Because Kurdistan society had different classes, political beliefs and ideologies, only an organization like the PUK could bring them together and organize them to launch a new revolution,” President Mam Jalal in response to the question of why the Kurdistan National Union?
After the death of President Mam Jalal, now on the 49th anniversary of the PUK, Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the PUK continues the struggle of President Mam Jalal and the program and policy of the PUK.
