SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Authorities in Sulaimani on Saturday seized 18 tons of expired hookah tobacco in the city, according to officials.

Head of joint committees at the Sulaimani Central District Lashkir Hamid said they had seized more than 3,000 cartons of hookah in a store in Sulaimani’s Raparin neighborhood

“They are bad for use and cause big harm due to their expiry,” Hamid told Esta Media Network, noting that the cartons had expiration dates back to 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, he said.

“The tobacco will be destroyed and legal actions will be taken against the owner of the store,” he added.

The official further said that authorities would also investigate to see if the tobacco had been already sold.
