SULAIMANI – (ESTA) In Kurdistan Flag Day, the PUK President said in a message, “it is the duty of all of us to work with a national and Kurdish spirit to build a brighter future, deepen the spirit of unity and coexistence and spread the message of peace”.
Bafel Jalal Talabani, president of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) on the occasion of the Kurdistan Flag Day said, “the Kurdistan flag is the most important thing in the history of the Kurdistan Region”.
“It is the duty of all of us to work together under the shadow of our sacred flag with a national and Kurdish spirit to build a brighter future, deepen the spirit of unity and coexistence and spread the message of peace,” he said.
PUK president added, “Of course, this is the only way to make the souls of our martyrs happy and respond to the loyalty and resistance of our beloved people”.
The Kurdistan Parliament has decided to declare December 17 as the Kurdistan Flag Day.
The reason for choosing this day goes back to 17th December of 1945, when the Kurdistan flag was officially raised in Chawarchra Square in a solemn ceremony in the presence of Peshawar Qazi Mohammad and revolutionaries from other parts of Kurdistan.
