SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Thursday in Erbil met with Victoria Taylor, the United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.

The meeting focused on political, economic, and security developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the region as a whole.

The importance of creating a favorable environment to remove obstacles to the political process, particularly between Erbil and Baghdad, was emphasized during the meeting.

During the meeting, PUK’s Talabani stressed the need for continued positive and legal efforts to resolve issues between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Talabani stated that any issue related to people’s lives and salaries should be kept separate from political conflicts.

Talabani also stressed the importance of solving these problems from the ground up and ensuring the rights and lives of the people of the region by law.

Regarding the issue of reorganizing the Region’s Peshmerga forces, Talabani pointed out the obstacles facing this national step.

“There is a strong will to overcome this problem and build a strong national force with the help of coalition forces in a way that promotes equality and justice,” he said.
