PUK President Announces Reconciliation Effort with Kurdish Political Parties

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani announced on Wednesday that his party intends to initiate a reconciliation effort with the Kurdish political parties in the near future.

Speaking at the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) 2023 forum in Erbil, Talabani disclosed his party’s plan to send a delegation to all Kurdish political parties with the objective of reconciling and normalizing relations, irrespective of past events.

“I would like to disclose a confidential matter relating to my political party’s activities. In the near future, we intend to dispatch a delegation to engage with all Kurdish political parties, with the objective of fostering reconciliation and the restoration of amicable relations, irrespective of past events,” said Talabani.

The two-day forum, organized by MERI, is currently taking place in the capital city of Erbil in the Kurdistan Region, and has attracted numerous politicians and leaders from both the Region and Iraq.
