SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Qubad Talabani, the supervisor of President Mam Jalal’s secretariat office said that the “timely” holding of the congress is a testament to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)’s “courage” and “resilience” as a political party
The 5th Congress of the PUK commenced in Sulaimani on Wednesday. The Congress is expected to be a significant event for the party that taking place in the Talary Hunar Great Hall and attended by 600 members of the party.
Qubad Talabani in a statement today extended his congratulations to all of the PUK members and the families of the martyrs.
Talabani further stated that during the three days of the congress, the party will deliberate on its future and how it can adapt to the current situation and changes.
He emphasized that holding the congress on schedule is a clear indication that the PUK “remains a strong and viable political entity,” according to his words.
According to Talar Latif, the spokesman for the congress, the event started at 11 a.m. today and was attended by representatives of political parties and consulates.
In the second part of the assembly, the congress program will begin with a focus on “modernity in work”, “decision-making through consensus,” and the appointment of committees that will start working towards achieving these goals, she added.
The congress is scheduled to last for three days, during which members will discuss various issues related to the party’s policies and strategies.
