SULAIMANI (ESTA) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani’s last week visit to Teheran was positive, the politburo said, according to a statement on Saturday.
Yesterday, under Talabani’s leadership, the PUK politburo held a meeting in Sulaimani to address pressing issues in the Kurdistan Region.
“Intense discussions took place regarding the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq,” a statement released by the PUK politburo read.
“Discussions also included the current state of the Kurdistan Region’s livelihood, including the public servants’ salary issue and the recent visit of the Kurdistan Region government delegation to Baghdad,” the statement said.
“Another part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the PUK’s delegation recent visit to Iran’s Teheran to strengthen the friendly ties between Iran and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq,” the statement added.
Last week, PUK’s Talabani, leading a senior delegation of his party, arrived in Teheran, where he met top-ranking Iranian officials, including the speaker of the parliament and the Foreign Minister of the country.
“The visit was positive and constructive,” the statement added.
In the meantime, the latest preparations for the 5th congress of the PUK were discussed as well which is set to be held on Sep. 27 in Sulaimani City.
