Deputy Prime Minister, US Ambassador urge immediate solution for internal disagreements

SULAIMANI (ESTA) — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani on the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina L. Romanowski on Monday urged immediate solution for the Kurdistan Region’s internal disagreements.

The Deputy Prime Minister received Ambassador Romanowski who was accompanied by the US Consul General in Erbil, Mark Stroh.

During the meeting, they shed light on Erbil-Baghdad outstanding issues, specifically the issue of the Region’s share in Iraq’s federal budget and the civil servants’ salaries.

“Both sides agreed to solve the internal disagreements of the Kurdish Region immediately in order to address the issues with Baghdad with unity,” the readout of the meeting released by Talabani’s office read.

Meanwhile, The KRG Deputy Prime Minister raised the alarm that at the current stage, the Kurdish people in general and the Kurdistan Region have faced serious threats.

He also warned that the ongoing crises would be deeper unless they overcome the internal disagreements immediately.

“Solution could be more difficult and complicated as long as we lose more opportunities,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reaffirmed his commitment to take all necessary actions in order to address the issue of the budget and salary in the Kurdistan Region.
